Claude Dugat’s Bourgogne is firmer and more expressive than the Gibryotte. While the wine is paler in color, it’s richer in aromatics boasting ripe dark cherry, forest floor and subtle notes of rose water. The palate is gripping and concentrated with baked strawberry and currant notes. It’s finish is long with spice and earth notes that add a silky texture. I consider this a benchmark Bourgogne. It is essentially declassified Gevrey. Please note only 50 cases were exported for the US.
