Winemaking is an old tradition in the Kerpen family. First documentations of winemaking date back to 1744, making the current owners the 8th generation. The estate in Wehlen is of more recent history. After the death of Heribert Kerpen in 1963, his wife Hanne continued the business until her youngest son Martin took over. Martin Kerpen, the current owner and winemaker takes care of the winery since 1988. The estate is member of the Bernkasteler Ring, one of the oldest auction societies for fine wine in the Mosel region, which by yield reduction persues the goal to achieve the highest possible quality of wines out of the grapes.
