In 1920, Angelo Fallabrino left his native Alessandria, in Piedmont, fleeing the ravages of war. He brought his family across the Atlantic Ocean to the city of Montevideo, Uruguay. A skilled winemaker back home, Angelo founded a winery. Many years later his son Alejandro followed in his footsteps and became one of the most innovating persons in Uruguayan wine industry in the 70s and 80s. Alejandro died in 1991, followed Angelo’s passing in 1995.

And so it was that at the age of 21 Pablo Fallabrino inherited Viñedo do los Vientos, which means “Vineyard of the Winds”. It is named so because of its location, where the River Plate estuary (the largest in the world) meets the Atlantic Ocean and clean, cool ocean breezes sweep the across the land.

This wine is named after Eolo, god of the winds; Zeus bestowed upon Eolo the power to still and arouse the winds.

This is a blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Ruby Cabernet (A cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignane) from a single vineyard. It lies on the highest section of Atlantida´s rolling hillside. This unique blend is aged in new, dark toasted French barrels for 12 month's. Its violet hue is accentuated by its robust nose of black licorice sun-dried on smokey eucalyptus. A mouthful of oven baked date and pistachio tart, leaving a grassy finish of raisined black cherry.
