Revolution

The 2007 Viognier from Corrina Rayment is the first vintage she has produced of this white beauty. Only indigenous yeast were used in the fermentation and it saw a few months of seasoned French oak while on the lees. Malolactic fermentation was not allowed to occur. This was bottled unfined and unfiltered. From a few small plots on the Oliver's Taranga estate the Revolution Viognier was made to compliment the Revolution Shiraz. Aiming for texture and finess, Corrina eyes lower yields, organic practices in the vineyard and small production allowing for pure focus. About 100 cases made.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Viognier Revolution comes from low yields of 1.8 tons per acre, was fermented with native yeasts, spent 6 months in used French oak, and is unfiltered. Light gold colored, it has a very expressive aromatic array of mineral, peach, apricot, and mango. Medium-bodied, it is smoothly textured with round, ripe, layered flavors, outstanding depth and a long, fruit-filled finish. Drink this outstanding Viognier over the next 1-2 years.

Score: 90. —Jay Miller, August 2008.
