Quilceda Creek

The 2008 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley (98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot) is a very opulent wine. With remarkable purity and focus, this wine reveals powerful blackberry, blueberry, plum and black currant fruit with nuances of chocolate, Asian spice and floral elements such as lavender and rose petal. With amazing texture, all of its components intertwine in perfect harmony. Approachable now this wine will age for 25+ years.

Wine Advocate

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is made up of 88% Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Quilceda Creek is a partner in the vineyard), 10% Red Mountain Cabernet, and 2% Merlot from the Palengat Vineyard. As good as the Palengat cuvee is, the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon takes it to another level. A slightly brooding bouquet displays aromas of sandalwood, exotic spices, incense, violets, and wild berry notes. On the palate it has extra layers of fruit, exceptional complexity, impeccable balance, and a 60-second finish.

Score: 99. —Jay Miller, August 2011.

Wine Spectator

Firm in texture, with sandy tannins around a supple core of ripe, plush cherry, tobacco and tar flavors. Finishes with persistence and flashes of sage and bay leaf. Long and inviting, this is built for the cellar. Best from 2014 through 2020. 3,625 cases made.

Score: 94. —Harvey Steiman, October 31, 2011.
