Glaetzer

Wisps of cloves, nutmeg and five spice add definition to the layers of dark stone fruits and espresso. The palate has density yet also displays savoury, textural components and fine-grained ripe tannins. A perfect food wine that is fresh and flavoursome and finishes with impressive lenght and depth.

Wine Spectator

Smooth and polished, this medium-weight Shiraz shows black olive nuances to its berry and pepper flavors, lingering generously. Drink now through 2017. 3,500 cases made.

Score: 90. —Harvey Steiman, July 31, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Bishop Shiraz is 100% Shiraz coming from 35-120 year vines. It was aged 14 months in oak: 30% new, 90% French and 10% American. Deep garnet-purple in color, it has pronounced pepper and spice aromas over blackberries and black currant plus a bit of Mediterranean herbs. Full-bodied, crisp with just enough flesh, it has firm fine tannins and a long finish.

Score: 89. —Lisa Perrotti-Brown, December 2010.
