Domaine William Fevre

A structured, lively and mineral wine with good length on the palate. Both straightfor ward and fresh, with exemplar y concentration. FoodMatches: Fish, seafood and shellfish, grilled or in a cream sauce. Poultry and white meat, grilled or in a cream sauce.

Wine Journal

There is more volume on the Montmains than the Beauroy: freshly cut apple, a touch of limestone and white peach. The palate is well balanced with good acidity, fine tension and vibrancy here with a twist of sour lemon on the finish.

Score: 92. —Neal Martin, January 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Chablis Montmains (Domaine) presents a cooler, more inward expression of Montmains, with plenty of nervous energy and wiriness framing the bright fruit. This is quite a bit more mineral-laden than the Maison bottling. The long, persistent finish is striking for its sheer purity. The Domaine bottling of Montmains is composed of the three terroirs within Montmains; 50% Butteaux, 25% Forets and 25% Montmains. The high slopes of Butteaux, especially rich in marl and limestone, give the wine its backbone of minerality, while Forets and Montmains provide a more fruit-forward expression. These late ripening plots are among the last to be harvested at Fevre. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

Score: 90. —Antonio Galloni, August 2011.

Burghound

A slightly more complex if similarly composed nose of primarily floral and spice aromas that marry into rich, delicious and a bit more concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess fine energy and persistence on the sappy finish.

Score: 89-91. —Allen Meadows, October 2010.

International Wine Cellar

Pale color. Subdued if slightly exotic aromas of yellow fruits and ginger. Broad and spicy, with fresh fruit flavors of apricot and grapefruit. A bit sweeter and silkier than the Beauroy and nicely tactile on the back end.

Score: 88-90. —Stephen Tanzer, August 2010.
