Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine
A powerful and full-bodied wine with a deep ruby red colour with violet tints. The nose is complex: cinnamon, stewed fruit, and Morello cherry. After a firm and ample attack, on the palate we have vanilla and peppery notes which last to the finish. This is a rich and supple wine, long in the mouth. The dominating presence of the characteristic flavour of the Grenache grape in the mouth assures the benchmark of CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE wines.
Wine Advocate
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Roc-Epine (a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre) boasts a dense purple color, a sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, kirsch, lavender, licorice and floral notes, an unctuous texture, medium to full body, sweet tannin, low acidity, and superb fruit purity and length. Enjoy this sumptuous beauty over the next 10-12 years.

Wine Spectator
This ripe red also shows some intensity to its anise, fig paste and warm currant confiture notes, which drive through the graphite-, spice- and black tea-filled finish. There's solid grip and length. Best from 2013 through 2021.

Biodynamic designation is regulated by Demeter, an international certification organization. Biodynamic agriculture is based on the view of a farm as a self-contained organism. Certified organic vineyards must meet Demeter"s additional criteria for a period of one year before earning the designation "biodynamic."
Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
