Bodegas Caro Caro 2002
2002 was an excellent year climatically in Mendoza between veraison and harvest time. Dry winter, sunny during summer, short storms in February but without consequences for the grapes. Beautiful dark color ”" Strong nose, nicely grilled with vanilla, raspberry and black cherry aromas. In the mouth, it is fruity, dense, and has a long finish combining great freshness and fine tension. A rich and balanced wine with mature and gorgeous tannins. Wine Advocate Dense core of blackberry and black currant fruit is covered with smoky toast, cocoa and loam layers for now. Ripe and polished on the finish, with impressive depth and length. Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Drink now through 2008. Wine Enthusiast After an earthy, aggressive, almost sweaty start, this joint-venture red from Nicolas Catena and Eric de Rothschild finds its course and manages to improve. The palate is full of acid-driven, amplified cherry and plum flavors, and while there’s a hint of buttery oak resting on the finish, that should subside with airing and a good food pairing.
