Artesa Carneros Chardonnay 2007
Artesa's Estate Chardonnay vineyards hang on the hillsides around the winery on the foothills of Mount Veeder. This wine comes from several of the highest elevation vineyards in Carneros. The great drainage of Artesa’s blocks insures intensely flavored small berries and moderate yields. Temperatures are moderated by the adjoining San Pablo Bay, cool afternoon breezes and persistent morning fog. This climate yields grapes that have both enough cool hang time and sunshine to develop a depth of flavor with great natural acid. This wine is full of pear, green apple and peach blossom with a hint of pineapple and mango. Balanced, seamless, multi-layered and elegant, this wine has a triple creme brie texture that melts into a lingering toasted vanilla bean and butterscotch finish. Excellent balance enables the fruit to dance on the tongue through the entire taste and provides the structure to age gracefully. We’re big fans of this massive chardonnay paired with grilled swordfish and a mango pineapple chutney. I’d pair it with grilled chicken and shrimp as well. While the wine is certainly accessible now, it’s cellar worthy.

Fragrant floral, green apple and pear flavors are delicate and spicy. Medium- to full-bodied, sleek and focused, with a long, persistent finish that keeps fruit purity at the center. Drink now through 2012.

This is an enomoursly rich Chardonnay that positively explodes in apricot jam, pineapple, vanilla custard and butterscotch flavors. It’s balanced with crisp, cool-climate Carneros acidity that makes it tangy and clean. Easy to find, with 33,000 cases produced.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
