Making The Rounds
Good Morning Everyone,
I love the way downtown Darien has started to come together. There's a great community of local, independent retailers that now affords you the opportunity to walk through town and get ready for your weekend. You can park your car in the two hours spots behind the Darien Butcher Shop, hit four stores and stock up for your weekend.
I spoke with Peter at Darien Butcher Shop. He said he has some great dry aged New York Strip steaks for the weekend. I’d do a simple salt, pepper, garlic and olive oil rub on it. Grill it to perfection and drink the 2013 Murgo Etna Rosso.
Jonas at Fjord Fish Market told me they expect to see the first soft shell crabs from North Carolina to roll in this weekend. Horray! I really like the 2014 Stadt Krems Gruner Veltliner with soft shell crabs, it makes a great pair.
Elaine at Kirby and Company just got in passion fruit, milk chocolate marshmallow and crème brûlée macarons as this week’s special flavors at their in shop café. It’s supposed to be chilly this weekend so after macarons, I'd cozy up with a glass of Teeling Irish Whiskey with a big square ice cube.
Don’t forget your cheese. I just received a fresh batch of Blue Ledge Farm Crottina, Middlebury Blue and Yellow Springs Farm Cloud Nine. What pairs well with all these cheeses? Rosé! And we love the 2015 Banshee Rosé.
Come shop downtown this weekend. You're going to be glad you did.
In good taste,
