Like The Old Days in Fort Collins
by Peter J Troilo
How do I find myself with no staff this weekend? Who the heck made the staff schedule? A summer’s weekend and I’m scheduled to be in the store on my own! Dang, who did the scheduling?
So, I’m left than to my own devices. Good. I’ll do a pop-up Friday Night Wine Down and kick off the weekend reminiscing about my days in Fort Collins, Colorado. Those were Friday nights with friend and New Belgium Brewing Fat Tire. Now, New Belgium’s outstanding beers are available in CT. I’ve got them in the store so I’ll open a few. Bring a friend – about 5:00ish.
I’m also thinking about our newest Bordeaux arrivals. In 1826 Jérôme Médeville, a barrel cooper from the Cadillac region of Acquitaine started Château Medéville and since then he has been crafting some fine Bordeaux. That’s seven generations of winemaking. I bought a stack of the 2015 Bordeaux Blanc and a stack of the 2014 Bordeaux Rouge just today. Now get this, park nearby. These wines are so reasonably priced that I’m expecting you will taste the wines and walk out with cases, not bottles, cases. Like you’re having a party. Tonight. A party. Like the Fort Collins days.
Dang. I got to stop scheduling staff this way. See you at 5 or so.
In good taste,
P.S. Make sure you look out for my Burgundy email tomorrow. I can’t believe the wines I’ve found on the market.
