We are pleased to announce the impending arrival of two extraordinarily important wines: 2011 Dominus and 2001 La Rioja Alta "890" Gran Reserva. The Dominus is, of course, one of the greatest wines produced in California. The 2001 La Rioja Alta "890" Gran Reserva is said to be the greatest wine the estate has ever produced, from a vintage that is clearly the best we have seen from Spain in over three decades. These are must haves for any serious collector.

2011 Dominus
The 2011 vintage is composed of 86% cabernet sauvignon, 9% petit verdot, and 5% cabernet franc. 2011 was characterized by unusually wet conditions and to make good wine it demanded experienced winemaking and careful crop selection,. The Dominus team did it and made one of the prizes of 2011. The 2011 vintage displays fresh almond, wild strawberry and cassis. The wine has delicate notes of smooth caramel. Polished tannins, dark berries, cocoa and sage accompany a long elegant finish. The iconic California wine for 2011

2001 La Rioja Alta "890" Gran Reserva
La Rioja Alta is one of the most historic and greatest Bodegas in Rioja. They consider this, their 2001 "890" Gran Reserva to be perhaps the greatest wine they have ever produced. They even gave it a special name - 'Seleccion Especial'. Clever, no?
The "890" Gran Reserva is a robust, dark and concentrated wine. Only 2,600 six bottle cases were produced. The 2001 vintage has been lovingly cared for over the past 13 years but has is just now been released. Approachable within the next few years, but the "890" has considerable longevity and will gain incredible complexity with further ageing over the coming decades. Bet you can't wait that long.
