Paul Autard Cotes Du Rhone 2011 $13
“Paul Autard goes from strength to strength” says Robert Parker when talking about this modern estate in the Southern Rhone Valley in France. We have been on a mission to find the ultimate Cotes du Rhone under $15, and I’m pretty darn sure this is it. Drinking like an approachable baby Chateauneuf du Pape, the Autard is a wonderful expression of Grenache, with fine, soft tannins, and a long, easy finish. There is simply nothing NOT to like about this lovely, ‘Tuesday night’ red. Minimal oak, with pleasing black fruit on the mid palate. Simply delicious and dangerously easy to drink. Go ahead. We dare you to just try one case at this awesome $13 per bottle price tag!

Hess Select North Coast Sauvignon Blanc $13
Sometimes it’s about utter refreshment. If I’ve had a hard day, and I’m simply feeling thirsty, I tend to look for a crisp, citrus-driven white to quench my thirst and erase the cares of the day. NO ONE is more consistent in California than the great folks at Hess, particularly with their whites. I adore the wonderful simplicity that this crisp white brings with its lemon, lime and melon notes. With balanced acidity, and no oak whatsoever, it’s kind of a ‘no brainer’ for $13. Get some! This is a STAPLE in my fridge!
