Ian Scudder of Serge Doré Selections led the class last night with his encyclopedic wine knowledge of French wines. Ian’s style is low-key and doesn’t intimidate. Tasting wine with him demonstrates a basic tenet: we all love wine, but when you know what you are tasting, you can appreciate it that much more. Feel free to stop by today to taste these. You can always call us at (203) 655-9045 to place an order. Or you can email me at jvega@nicholasrobertsltd.com.

2012 Croix de Basson Cotes de Provence Rosé - $16 per bottle
50% grenache, 50% cinsault, grown in the only 100% certified organic village in all of France. Bright, clear pink color in the glass. Delicate aromas of raspberry. Clean, fresh fruit flavors are balance by a striking mineral snap. Finished long and clean.
2012 Le Petite Maison Ventoux Blanc - $13 per bottle
One of two crowd favorites from the evening. 50% grenache blanc, 40% clairette, 10% bourboulenc from Ventoux in the Rhone Valley. Pear and lychee fruit aromas. Similar and refreshing fruit flavors. Lingering and dry on the end. Perfect for the pool and patio this summer.
2010 Alain Lorieux Chinon "Expression" - $18 per bottle
100% cabernet franc from the Loire Valley. Striking, earthy scents peel back to reveal violet and raspberry aromas. Delicate and lively fruit flavors are framed by flinty tannins.
2009 Domaine de Dionysos Cairanne "Trilougio" - $37 per bottle
The stunner of the evening and we SOLD OUT. 50% grenache, 30% syrah, 20% mourvedre from the oldest parcels on the estate. Black cherry and blackberry with leather floral notes. A powerhouse wine, but elegantly balanced. There’s no more to purchase, but you can grab a taste while it’s still here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and we hope to see you next Friday for another edition of Friday Night Wine Down.
