4th Annual Spring Awakening Wine Event
St. Philips Mansion, 23 France Street, Norwalk, CT
Sat, May 13th 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Our 4th Annual Spring Awakening Tasting Event to benefit Turning Wine Into Waterwill be held at the St. Philip Mansion in Norwalk, CT. This historic house next to St. Philips Church on France Street is the original Lockwood Mansion. As usual, we will have more 60 wines to taste in two distinct rooms – The Tasting Room and The Vintage Room. And this year, we’ve added a special seminar which includes a seated, guided tasting to start things off.

TWIW's project for 2017 is centered on a water retrieval and purification system in Harar, Ethiopia. Harar is a walled city in eastern Ethiopia, formerly known as Gē and one of the five holy cities of Islam. Our project will serve 5,500 residents who currently have no reliable source for clean water.
The project costs is $192,500 and (do that math) that comes to $35.00 per resident. $35.00, by the way, is more than the monthly income of the people in the area. So we thought we’d ask you to decide how many people you want to help.

Noah Chilton is one of the finest minds in the California wine scene. He works for Michael Skurnik Wines & Spirits, the leading wholesaler of California’s newest and brightest stars in winemaking, as the US portfolio director. Essentially, Noah’s job is to find all the new talent in California and bring it to the marketplace. In this seminar, he’ll guide you through a tasting of wines that are considered the new wave of California wine movement. This movement of winemaking which features brighter acids, less oak and more food friendly styles has been hitting the shelves and wine lists of the most daring retailers and sommeliers across the nation since 2014 and inspired Jon Bonné to write “The New California Wine: A Guide to the Producers and Wines Behind a Revolution in Taste”. In this seminar, Noah will discuss how and why these wines set a new bar and how the winemaker’s philosophies are changing the way you drink California wine.

You can, of course, donate for as many persons as you would like and you can help with every purchase you make during the evening. Orders of $350 mean Nicholas Roberts chips in $35.00 to help too. As a result of last year’s Spring Awakening and Harvest Tastings, we successfully completed a project in Beliti Ethiopia. If you would like to travel with us for the inauguration of that project later this year, please let us know.
