Argiolas Turriga 2004
| BN#289348 |
85 % Cannonau, 5% Bovale, 5% Carignane, 5% Red Malvasia Deep garnet color. Gorgeous aromas of chamomile, sage, leather, savory, stewed cherry and plum. Soft and elegant. Reminiscent of Rutherford but shows true sense of terrior with bell pepper and candy cherry fruit. Long and elegant finish that grips the palate with spice. Very complex.
Wine Advocate
Cannonau takes center stage in the 2004 Turriga, although small amounts of Carignano, Bovale Sardo and Malvasia Nera are also present. Chocolate, roasted coffee beans, dark blueberries, underbrush and tobacco are just some of the nuances that emerge from this massive, super-rich wine. The tannins finish rather firm but there is also considerable sweetness and silkiness that simply needs bottle age in order to emerge to the fullest. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2019.
Score: 93. —Antonio Galloni, April 2009.Wine Enthusiast
Turriga is this estate’s top red wine that boasts the extraction and sophistication to pair with Gouda or sharp Cheddar. This vineyard-designate wine is mostly Cannonau (85%) with smaller percentages of Carignano, Bovale and Malvasia Nera. It’s firm and pulpy with young tannins. You can age this wine five years or more.
