This wine has potential. Yes it’s delicious now. Big aromatics of pencil shaving, cassis, blackberry and currant. There’s underlying toasty vanilla bean. The palate is mouth gripping with tannin but balanced with its fruit. Teeth staining. A few extra years in the bottle and you will be very pleased that you grab this wine. It reminds me of young Pomerol. Tanzer gave it 91 points. It’s a steal.
Wine Spectator
Overtly toasty, but with a core of plum, cassis and anise. The finish shows fruitcake and toast notes, with a slightly firm edge. Should soften with brief cellaring. Not the usual house style. Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2011. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 6,500 cases imported.
