89 Points Robert Parker "A beautiful bargain, this unfiltered blend of McLaren Vale and Riverlands Shiraz, aged in old American hogsheads, exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue along with a sweet, gamy, forest floor, meaty-scented nose, with plenty of black fruits, licorice, and earth. It possesses an attractive texture, medium to full body, loads of fruit, and no hard edges. Drink it over the next 2-3 years."
Peter's Notes Maroon ruby, purple hue. Gamey, forest floor and sweet fruit aromas. The palate is lush with soft black fruit, licorice and earth. Nicely textured with soft tannin, medium body and luxurious fruit. A long finish that features black pepper leaves a lasting
Impression. Match with grilled meats, lamb and red sauce.

Wine Enthusiast
Another label from Shingleback winemaker John Davey, this vintage of The Gate delivers a well-structured, tasty wine full of black and white pepper, plum and blackberry flavors. The nose shows milk chocolate, black berry and cherry aromas. Very enjoyable; one to drink over the next 3 years.
Score: 89.
